Clinical Systems Trainer

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product management and site support to develop and deliver training and ongoing support for customers and internal staff on the operation and use of the Mevion proton therapy equipment. 
  • Provides clinical operation training courses (hands on and classroom) for radiation therapists and physicists at customer sites. Provides phone and on-site support for radiation therapists and physicists and Mevion employees at operational clinics
  • Prepares lesson plans, content and methods in cooperation with product experts and other stakeholders
  • Develops educational materials, media, and tools
  • Participates in effectiveness assessments of training programs and continuous improvement programs
  • Interacts with functional organizations to develop course specifications
  • Coach students, peers and other colleagues as required
  • Remain current in treatment techniques, clinical protocols, and education methodology through continuous education and professional improvement
  • Assumes a principle role in usability studies for the product
  • Provides input into design work for Software and Hardware which affects user experience

Minimum educational, training, and experience qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, sciences, informatics, technical school or equivalent experience
  • Five to eight years of Radiation Oncology clinical experience (as radiation therapist, physicist, or dosimetrist in a hospital) with in-depth knowledge of clinical environment and Image Guided Radiation Therapy workflow 
  • Familiarity with proton radiation therapy experience a plus
  • Experience as a teacher or instructor, with supporting evidence
  • Experience in developing curriculum and lesson plans
  • Presentation skills at a high level including computer tools and public speaking skills
  • Coaching and consulting experience with proven results
  • The successful candidate must be able to quickly learn and explain to others the function and use of complex and diverse clinical technologies incorporated into the products. The systems include particle accelerator, X-ray and CT radiography, image fusion, record and verify informatics, patient support and positioning, mechanical systems, and a variety of user interfaces and applications.
  • Up to 50% domestic travel is required; with occasional international travel
  • The use of the equipment requires physical work including extensive time standing, reaching to manipulate or lift objects up to 20 lbs, , sitting, walking, keyboarding
